It's the End of an Era for the Dakota Boys

Dustin faces double the danger in a new season of Gold Rush: White Water on Discovery and discovery+.

October 28, 2021

The Dakota boys have found the richest ground of their lives high in Alaska's Chilkat Mountains, but a surprise announcement shocks the miners. Fred Hurt will be hanging up his wetsuit and entrusting his dream of hitting the motherlode to son, Dustin.

GOLD RUSH: WHITE WATER, premieres Friday, November 5, at 9 PM ET/PT on Discovery and discovery+.

After a record gold cleanup last season, veteran gold miner Dustin Hurt finds the McKinley Creek mine site buried in snow after being hit with one of the heaviest snowfalls in years. The crew is faced with new challenges including raging white-water caused by record snowmelt.

To have any hope at reaching life-changing gold, the miners must find a way to beat mother nature at her own game.

Despite Fred's leaving McKindley Creek behind, he sets out on a mission to keep the family’s mining legacy alive.

For Dustin, Fred’s sudden change in plans presents an opportunity; buy up Fred’s mining equipment and for the first time ever, run two crews simultaneously. It’s a huge gamble that will require double the investment and double the manpower, but Dustin knows this is the opportunity of a lifetime. An opportunity to double his chances of uncovering the millions in gold out there for the taking.

Double the crew may double the chances of a big payday, but it also doubles the danger in one of the most challenging and unforgiving mining operations on the planet. Now with 8 lives at stake, the pressure is on.
